CRÓNICAS is the gripping new drama from writer/director
Sebastián Cordero. The film stars John Leguizamo, in his first
Spanish-language role, as Manolo Bonilla, a star reporter for
the Miami-based news magazine show "One Hour with the
Truth," a nightly roundup of the most sensational stories
broadcast throughout Latin America.

As CRÓNICAS begins, Bonilla arrives in a small
Ecuador town with his producer Marisa
(Leonor Watling from "Talk to Her") and cameraman
Ivan (José Maria Yazpik). The team is hot on the
trail of a child serial killer, "The Monster of Babahoyo,"
whose killing spree has put the region's citizenry on
edge. Just in time to play out in front of Bonilla's camera,
a young boy's accidental death brings the town to the verge of lynching Vinicio Cepeda (Damián Alcázar), a humble traveling salesman. Bonilla's intervention saves the man's life and also makes a great story for "One Hour with the Truth"…but has Bonilla done the right thing?

CRÓNICAS is a classic noir for a new era in our media culture, an era marked by the advancement of tabloid journalism and the penetration of TV infotainment into the heretofore most isolated communities of the world.

Since its premiere at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, CRÓNICAS was invited to the Toronto Film Festival and most recently competed in the newly created World Cinema category at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. CRÓNICAS is produced by acclaimed filmmakers Alfonso Cuarón ("Y Tu Mamá También", "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban") and Guillermo del Toro ("Hell Boy", "Mimic").
