unconventional romantic comedy, starring Garlin
as James, a Chicago actor and comedian who still
lives with his mother and for some reason - well,
for lots of reasons - has yet to find the right girl.
Enter Beth (Sarah Silverman), whom James meets
as she fills in for a friend behind the counter at
his favorite ice cream parlor.
With a new spin on the confessional, deadpan
humor that has made Garlin's give and take
with Larry David such a cultural touchstone
on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm,"
I WANT SOMEONE TO EAT CHEESE WITH
achieves a refreshing, if unexpected, poignancy
that makes it a new kind of date movie. If you have ever
fantasized about seeing Sarah Silverman in her underwear, you will surely want to eat some cheese with Garlin and his ensemble, which also features such comedy veterans as Dan Castellaneta, Bonnie Hunt, Richard Kind, Paul Mazursky, Amy Sedaris and Joey Slotnick.
