MEMPHIS -- The Yari Film Group (YFG) announced
that production began here on October 10th on
NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, a thriller from
writer-director Rod Lurie (“Resurrecting the
Champ,” “The Contender”). The film features an
all-star cast that includes Kate Beckinsale,
Matt Dillon, Angela Bassett, Alan Alda, Vera Farmiga,
Noah Wyle, David Schwimmer. Principal
photography is expected to continue on location
here through mid-November.

NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH is the story of a female reporter named Rebecca Armstrong (Beckinsale), who writes an explosive story in which she reveals the name of a covert CIA agent. Once the story is published and the identity of one Janet Van Doren (Farmiga) is outed, all hell breaks loose and the government demands to know the source of Rebecca’s story. With the support of her editor, Bonnie (Bassett), her paper’s in-house attorney (Wyle) and her husband, Ray (Schwimmer), Rebecca defies the special prosecutor, Patton Dubois, (Dillon) and elects to go to jail rather than reveal her source.

The story follows the hardships of Rebecca in prison and the fight of her beautifully dressed attorney, Alan Burnside (Alda), as he struggles to combat the government on this First Amendment issue. The focus of the movie becomes: who is the source and why does Rebecca defend this person with such ferocious zeal?

NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH is a testament to journalism, the First Amendment, and the struggle to maintain one’s principles and dignity in the most dire of circumstances.

NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH marks the second collaboration between Lurie and YFG CEO Bob Yari after teaming on the recently-released Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett starrer RESURRECTING THE CHAMP.
