THE BUSINESS OF BEING BORN, a powerful
nonfiction film that covers all of the choices women
have when it comes to childbirth, and how the
medical-industrial complex can seem to limit those
choices, got a lot of attention at spring's
TriBeCa Film Festival, not only because it has
Ricki Lake as an executive producer, but also, as
Variety recently reported, the "overflow" screenings
there "sported an atmosphere resembling that of
a religious revival meeting…the almost entirely
female crowds were alternately weeping and cheering."
Netflix and New Line have teamed to bring the film to
theatres in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco
in January 2008, and available on DVD to women and their families everywhere in February.
